In Gossip Girl Season 6, Episode 6, “Where The Vile Things Are” (original air date: November 19, 2012), Eleanor Waldorf (Margaret Colin) is coming back to NYC to scold her daughter Blair (Leighton Meester) about the way she’s running Waldorf Designs. As B’s trying to look responsible and professional, she finds out that Dan Humphrey‘s (Penn Badgley) serial is about her this week: he says she’s conniving and manipulative and stuck in high school.

In her mom’s office, Blair tries to sell herself and confirms that her cotillion dress has been ordered by Barneys, Bergdorfs, and Bloomingdales. But Eleanor says the issue is deeper than the business side. Her dark and scheming ways are ruining the company. She gives her an ultimatum: the deviant half of B has to go if she wants to continue running the corporation. Blair agrees to work on it, and Eleanor has her apologize and make amends with those in the fashion world… including Nelly Yuki (Yin Chang). The girls sit down for tea, and Blair ends up blackmailing her with a picture of herself in a fat suit. Nelly tells Eleanor on her way out, and Eleanor tells Blair that Daniel Humphrey was right: she’s running the business like she’s the meanest girl in high school. She demotes her and takes back her company.

In Brooklyn, Rufus Humphrey (Matt Settle) and Ivy Dickens (Kaylee DeFer) are having a gallery opening but they see that no one has RSVPed yes. They find out it’s because Lily (Kelly Rutherford) is hosting a benefit for the Art Production Fund. Ivy gets the idea to donate money so the event will be cancelled. But they instead make a deal with the organization that they’ll buy the paintings and then put Rufus’ art in there. At the gallery, they tell her Ivy and Rufus will now be her co-hosts. She’s obviously upset but can’t really do anything because they made such a huge contribution. So, she ups the ante by making an additional donation that is sure to break their record: the Rainbow Lady piece that sits above her stairs in her apartment.

Meanwhile, Chuck Bass (Ed Westwick) is still on his mission to take Bart Bass (Robert John Burke) down. He gets the security footage for the Van der Woodsen mansion and sees Bruce Caplan (Bart’s business manager) drop an envelope off. To get more information, Nate Archibald (Chace Crawford) invites Bruce to a party meeting that seems to be about The Spectator but obviously he’s trying to get info on Bart Bass. Bruce isn’t giving him anything, so on his way out, Nate swipes his phone. As he and Chuck are going through his phone, they see a calendar entry for “Bass Traffic.” Chuck figures out that it is in reference to the movie Traffic where they store illegal account information in a painting.

Serena van der Woodsen (Blake Lively) and Dan are flirty ever since their diner date in the last episode. She says she’ll go look for apartments with him and he puts her on his new Vespa to ride around town. But the paparazzi start following them, and because of that, they decide not to look for apartments and instead go to a bar.
